Rural Life
At the edge of a quiet village nestled among low, rolling hills, a small hut stands surrounded by tall grasses and whispering trees. It’s modest, built of mud and timber, but it shelters a young couple, Peyman and Maryam, and their 5-month-old son, Parsa. Life is simple here, rooted in rhythm, weather, and effort.
Peyman has been away for a few days, rising early and walking long distances to work in nearby farms, collecting wages in kind or coin to provide for his family. Each evening, with dust on his shoulders and the sun sinking low behind him, he returns with sacks of flour, kindling, or fresh vegetables. His hands are rough with labor, but his eyes soften at the sight of his son in Maryam’s arms.
While Peyman is away, Maryam tends to their home. The mornings are quiet, filled with the gentle cooing of Parsa and the rustling of leaves. She balances motherhood with the tasks of the day—fetching water, feeding chickens, preparing simple meals over an outdoor fire. Her greatest task this week is building a canopy for shade. With careful hands, she selects long branches from nearby trees and binds them together with strips of bark and cord. Layer by layer, she weaves large green leaves into the frame, creating a cool shelter where she and Parsa can rest during the hot afternoon hours.
The canopy stands beside the hut now, a small symbol of resilience and care. Beneath it, Maryam hums lullabies while rocking Parsa, and dreams of the future they are building, one small step at a time. Life is not easy, but in its quietness, there is strength. In every task, a quiet love.
