Fungal infection of the ear or swimmers ear as sometimes it is called, is seen in people who have got moisture in the external auditory canal that attracts fungus and it can have fungal growth in the external auditory canal. it can be characterized by a wet newspaper or kind of a look inside the ear and the patient will complain of pain, touching an d discharge. Sometimes discharge is not evident but pain is one factor that they will not be able to avoid. Invariably it is seen in people who have wetness in the ear. People who have not had a swim can also have such a fungal infection. It is usually because there is a preexisting infection in the ear which has left some discharge in previous storage of dryness and hence the fungal growth in the ear can start its work and patient complaints of pain. Here he has to clean with ear with a suction apparatus to ensure there is no injury or there is no infective material going into the middle ear. Make sure there is no injury to the adjoining structures.
