5G Core Network consists of key functions/nodes -

AMF – Access & Mobility Management Function - Plays key roles of NAS Signaling, Registration, Access Authentication, Mobility management control

UDM – Unified Data Management Function - Contains User subscription data and Authentication credentials

AUSF – Authentication Server Function - used to Authenticate devices

SMF – Session Management Function - used for Signaling related to user data

PCF – Policy Control Function - used for Record Billing, Policy rules for NW slicing, roaming & mobility management, Traffic steering at UPF, Manage PDU session, UE IP allocation

UPF – User Plane Function - plays key roles of Packet routing & fwd., Mobility anchor, QoS handling
