In this message, Pastor Jimmy Witcher gives us a glimpse of how we, as the Body of Christ can recognize our identify through God to confirm our purpose. It all starts when we say "yes" to God's plans and calling on our lives and confronting every false identity, in courage, to make it's way out!

Message: The Courage to Confront
Speaker: Jimmy Witcher
Notes:
Ephesians 2:10 (TPT)
We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given
each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born,
God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!
• Our identity is formed by who or what we look to, to define our purpose.
• If we’ve said “yes” to God’s calling on our life; then we must tear down the
idols that pull on our attention and affections.
Judges 6:25-27 (NLT)
That night the Lord said to Gideon, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the
one that is seven years old. Pull down your father’s altar to Baal, and cut down the
Asherah pole standing beside it. Then build an altar to the Lord your God here on this
hilltop sanctuary, laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the
altar, using as fuel the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down.” So Gideon took ten of
his servants and did as the Lord had commanded. But he did it at night because he was
afraid of the other members of his father’s household and the people of the town.
1. Before we fight the battle “out there,” we must win the battle “in here.”
Judges 6:28-30 (NLT)
Early the next morning, as the people of the town began to stir, someone discovered
that the altar of Baal had been broken down and that the Asherah pole beside it had
been cut down. In their place a new altar had been built, and on it were the remains of
the bull that had been sacrificed. The people said to each other, “Who did this?” And
after asking around and making a careful search, they learned that it was Gideon, the
son of Joash. “Bring out your son,” the men of the town demanded of Joash. “He must
die for destroying the altar of Baal and for cutting down the Asherah pole.”
2. We won’t become the epic warriors we are called to be without rejecting all our
false identities.
Luke 9:23,24 (TPT)
Jesus said to all of his followers, “If you truly desire to be my disciple, you must disown
your life completely, embrace my ‘cross’ as your own, and surrender to my ways. For if
you choose self-sacrifice, giving up your lives for my glory, you will embark on a
discovery of more and more of true life. But if you choose to keep your lives for
yourselves, you will lose what you try to keep.
Judges 6:31,32 (NLT)
But Joash shouted to the mob that confronted him, “Why are you defending Baal? Will
you argue his case? Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If Baal
truly is a god, let him defend himself and destroy the one who broke down his altar!”
From then on Gideon was called Jerub-baal, which means “Let Baal defend himself,”
because he broke down Baal’s altar.
3. As you settle into your identity in Christ, you position yourself to lead.
