Fronto-temporal angles: could make or break your transplant by Dr Arika Bansal

Описание к видео Fronto-temporal angles: could make or break your transplant by Dr Arika Bansal

Dr. Arika Bansal highlights the various mistakes while creating a frontotemporal angle during a hair restoration surgery. She delves into issues where patients would want the wrong kind of angulation and then it's the aftermath. Since the frontotemporal angle frames the face and gives the male hairline its typical characteristic, it has to be created using multiple calculations and in the correct manner. Dr. Arika Bansal focuses on how to do it right and what a natural hairline should look like.

Notes:

The frontotemporal angles lie at a junction of the frontal hairline and the temporal hairline and its apex is on both sides of the forehead.
1st mistake: when the placement of the frontotemporal angle is much lateral to the position that it should be.
To prevent this error the angle should lie in the plane of the lateral canthus of the eye. (0:37)

2nd mistake: Blunting of the angles is a common mistake that people make wherein they desire to have no angles and want a straight hairline to the end. Futuristically speaking, this results in an unnatural-looking hairline, and hence the patients end up getting a female hairline. Some even shave the hair in the corners because of their discomfort with how unnatural it looks. A normal male hairline is always a Depp or a superficial “M” in shape. (1:55)

3rd mistake: Concave or convex hairline? There should be convexity as we move laterally from the mid frontal point in the hairline. It gives the hairline a natural and non-bald look. A concave hairline on the other hand will make the hairline look unnatural and also cause a bald look. Also, due to concavity, the frontotemporal angle will lie more laterally making it look flared and obtuse whereas the ideal angle should be acute. (3:09)

A normal hairline shape: goes laterally with a convex nature towards the frontotemporal region. There is a peak in the mid-frontal point and also small peaks at the mid pupillary points. The mid pupillary points are the initiating points for sharp turns until the frontotemporal zones and then giving an M shape. The frontotemporal angle then lies along the lateral canthus of the eye.
