I was very young when I first heard Blizzard of Ozz. I pretty much only knew radio friendly music up until that point. Listening to Randy’s searing lead guitar and Ozzy’s haunting vocals blew my mind. It opened me up to the world of heavy metal. I of course followed Ozzy’s solo career until present day. I also discovered his past with Black Sabbath. Ozzy and his bandmates helped pioneer a new darker hard rock sound. I still listen to those old albums in awe. I was lucky enough to see Ozzy in concert a few times with Sabbath when they reunited. They were amazing. Ozzy had an incredible stage presence and he always got people on their feet, clapping their hands and singing out loud. He was one of a kind. He was both talented and funny. He always left an impression. He was also responsible for launching a lot of careers by allowing new bands to open up for him (like Motley Crue, Metallica and Alice In Chains to name a few). A few weeks ago, he performed his final show with Black Sabbath. Although Ozzy couldn’t stand, he gave one hell of a show. That event reportedly raised $190 million for three charities: Birmingham Children's Hospital, Cure Parkinson's, and Acorn Children's Hospice. Losing Ozzy today was heartbreaking. It weighed on me more than I thought it would. It inspired me to write this song for him. I’ve been in bands and I’ve always loved writing and recording music, but I never went anywhere with it. This song is just a grieving fan trying to deal with the loss of a true giant. If you hate it or it’s not your cup of tea, that’s fine -- I completely understand, but it was something I wanted to do, just to get it out of my system and show my appreciation. Rest in Peace, Ozzy. We love you.
