Budgetel lawsuit; Hundreds of evictions at East Ridge's Budgetel

A new Federal ruling states Tennessee's Attorney General must get involved in a lawsuit following the hundreds of evictions from East Ridge's Budgetel.

It follows a former resident saying the state's "nuisance" law is overly broad.

And that the state Attorney General must make a ruling on whether the law is constitutional within 60 days.

This is the same law that District Attorney Coty Wamp and East Ridge city leaders cited when they closed the Budgetel.

Wamp condemned the property in November, evicting almost 200 residents after she cited police calls and drug use to declare the site a nuisance.
