Sharpening Stone Maintenance - Flattenting and Conditioning

Описание к видео Sharpening Stone Maintenance - Flattenting and Conditioning

This method works will oilstones, waterstones, and of course natural stones; including Arkansas stones. I mentioned in the video I lapped, and flattened, my Spyderco UltraFine, in this fashion. I neglected to mention that it took over an hour, and required multiple grit changes. The ceramic breaks down the sic powder very quickly, so you have to refresh the abrasive often. It is a very labor intensive process, but if you want your stone flat, like I did, you do what you must.

Search Ebay, or Amazon for silicon carbide powder, and the results should produce what you need. There are many grits to choose from. I got 46 for ultra aggressive lapping, but my main flattening grit is the 60/90 combo. After that, it is just matter of refining the surface texture, to something I find agreeable.
