BMW 328i Driver's Door Handle Repair

This video shows how to remove and refinish the interior door handle on an E90 328i BMW. The soft-touch coating used on the interior plastics often fails, leaving behind peeling or rough surfaces. BMW offers replacement parts for the three other door handles, but the handle on the driver's door is part of the armrest and not available individually. If you can find one (part nr. 51417239655) it's a $345 part. This video shows you how to refinish the one you have.

Tools needed: T-20 Torx driver, interior pry tools, electric drill, 1/2 inch drill bit, and a soldering iron. Supplies needed: plastic primer, satin black spray paint, and a few screws (optional.) Time needed: About 2 hours (plus time for the paint to dry.)
