Beautiful Buttle Lake Campground in Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, BC

In this video, I take you along as we head out to nearby Strathcona Provincial Park here on Vancouver Island. We recently spent a few days in October 2020 camped in Buttle Lake Campground. Being the offseason, there were very few other campers making for a peaceful little getaway.

I show you some of the prime RV camping spots and a few nearby hiking trails, plus some of the gorgeous autumn views I come across during a morning walkabout.

The campground has no RV hookups but does have pit toilets, garbage, and well water pumps. The campsites are fairly spacious with picnics tables and a fire pit. At least a dozen or so can handle a larger motorhome or trailer in the 30-foot range like ours, maybe larger. Access is good, and the trees were trimmed back for good clearance. The highway out from Campbell River is in good shape and plenty wide, but does have a few curvy sections to deal with.
