Whittlesea info:

Whittlesea railway station is on the Ely–Peterborough line in the east of England and serves the town of Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire. "Whittlesea" is an older spelling of the town's name.

It is 94 miles 60 chains (152.5 km) measured from London Liverpool Street via Ely and is situated between March and Peterborough stations.

All the original station buildings have long been demolished, and only the two platforms remain. Unlike most level crossings, the gates at the Whittlesea crossing are not automatic and are still opened and closed by hand by a member of railway staff based in a small adjacent building.

In 1968 the Flying Scotsman visited the station to have its tender refilled with water.

Services:

Greater Anglia operates one train every two hours between Ipswich and Peterborough.

CrossCountry operates three trains per day Monday-Saturday between Birmingham and Cambridge, of which two are extended beyond Cambridge to Stansted Airport.

East Midlands Railway operates a service to Liverpool Lime Street Monday-Saturday only.
