Rohtasgarh, one of the largest forts not only in India but in the whole world, is spread over a radius of 26 miles. The name of this area was named Rohtas after Rohtasgarh, established by Rohitashva, the son of Satyuga Suryavanshi king Satyaharishchandra. Since ancient times, there have been only four routes in all four directions to reach Rohtas hill, which are called Ghats. From these ghats (paths) the enemies could not easily come up and the guards kept on, due to which the gates have been made here. These are :- Mendara Ghat in the East, Kathoutia Ghat in the West, Ghoda Ghat in the North and Raj Ghat in the South. Rohitasan or Chaurasan Stairway Temple in Rohtasgarh, Parvati Temple, Kathoutia Ghat, Singh Darwaza, Lal Darwaza, Ghazi Darwaza, Raj Bhavan or Mahal Sarai, Qiladar Mahal, Panch Mahal, Hathiyapol, Phool Mahal, Baradari, Raja’s Palace and Takhtpadshahi, Khanbagh and Zanana Palace, Queen’s Palace, Nach Ghar, Sher Shahi Mosque, Habs Khan’s Tomb, Habs Khan’s Mosque and Madrasa, Ganesh Temple, Shaaki Sultan’s Tomb etc. are worth visiting.
