Peshawar city has provided numerous of its delicious dishes to the world. The Recipes from Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa are extremely unique and special in their own way… they are simple, cooked with minimum spices and presented in their purest form, without over the garnish and without chutneys and condiments. Mostly the dishes hailing from there are meat-based.. mutton, lamb or beef even the famous Charsi Karahi is really a mutton dish but it evolved quickly and have become a chicken dish too and most restaurants have this chicken version in their menu card.

Just like all Peshawari karahis, this one is quick and straightforward too and it's seasoned with salt and black pepper only, later finished with some chopped green chillies and sliced ginger but in fact it's slightly different cooking steps which makes it special and stand out from other sorts of karahis.

The original recipe for charsi chicken is very simple. The only ingredients you need is chicken salt tomatoes and oil.
You just need to fry the chicken in oil, add some salt and whole tomatoes to it.
Now wait till the chicken gets cooked well and tomatoes get mashed easily. Remove the excess oil and mash the tomatoes well to make a thick gravy from them.
