Arts Health Agency have been assisted by Munnew Dementia Specific Day Care in Devonport and Arts Tasmania to create five-minute films which might include a person’s life story, attitudes, loves, losses and personal passions. The experimental work is called Moving Story and the idea is that wherever you go next, your story goes with you to inform carers in a way that clinical papers cannot. It aims to achieve what the recent Aged Care Commission suggested should happen – create stronger bonds between clients, families and care management teams to improve the quality of aged care. The creative director of Arts Health Agency, Chris Mead, says the idea was triggered by his own experiences of his mother’s dementia and time in residential aged care.
