"Law’s Quandary" 20 Years Later: A Book Event

Twenty years ago, Steven D. Smith of the University of San Diego School of Law published Law’s Quandary. In it, he argued that, while we claim to believe in legal theories that spurn the classical understanding of law, we think and act in ways that presume that understanding. Incisive in its diagnosis and prophetic in its anticipation of future trends, Law’s Quandary remains as relevant today as it was two decades ago.
