AEG have opened their annual design contest for professional kitchen planners and are now seeking entries to this year’s contest. On offer to winners are great prizes, including AEG products, cooking experiences and a weekend in Madrid. The contest is now open until 30th September 2019 to designers that have integrated AEG products in to a kitchen design.

Designers are encouraged to add their own perspective on the use and enjoyment of kitchen appliances in the various phases of meal preparation under the theme ‘sharpen your senses’, which acknowledges the symbiotic relationship between design and functionality.

Remy Blom from the Kitchen Studio, Netherlands was the first place prize winner of the 2018 contest. All entries from 2018 are available to see on the competition website as are the jury motivations. “The bar was set high last year and we are really excited about seeing the entries to the 2019 contest.” says Thomas Gardner, competition jury member and product designer at Electrolux.

“To see how the jury thinks, what works and scores highly, then a great tip for any participant is to look through the awarded designs from last year. In 2019, bonus points will be awarded to entries that consider real user scenarios that not only support human interaction and enjoyment in the kitchen but also place the kitchen with the context of a rich and diverse space that enriches home life.”
