19-year-old Muslim woman Cahaya arrives in Jakarta. She is on a search for the father who she hasn't seen since she was four. Instead, she finds a transvestite prostitute playing her trade on the streets named Ipuy. Ipuy is horrified to see the daughter who he left behind. Each of them makes their own specific sacrifices in order to connect with each other. Lovely Man is anchored by Asian Film Award-winner Donny Damara. Writer-director Teddy Soeriaatmadja unfolds an unusual father-daughter bond over the course of one enlightening and bittersweet night.
