RARE Sunday Train on the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad - September 10, 2023

I was informed that the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad would be running a rare train on a Sunday afternoon after a washout had halted operations earlier in the week. PGR SW1200, 33 was tasked with shoving nine cars to the Railco Car Shops in Crainville and picking up two hoppers to be interchanged with the BNSF Railway before returning to the engine shed in downtown Marion.

This video is also dedicated to Crab Orchard & Egyptian's conductor Nathan Beasley. This was his final run with the CO&E after starting in September of 2021. He will now be starting a new career as full time passenger conductor for Amtrak out of Carbondale. Best wishes to him!

For this operation, we will follow the train to six different locations along the CO&E mainline including:

4:47 - Briggs Road, Crainville
6:12 - Skyline Drive, Marion
7:21 - Carbon Street, Marion
8:49 - Monroe Street, Marion
