Locomotive Electric Brake Control Unit (EBCU) testing

Описание к видео Locomotive Electric Brake Control Unit (EBCU) testing

Every locomotive needs a module to implement brake algorithms and send control commands to the pneumatic part of the brake system. The brake control unit is better to be designed as a separate module for modularity and decreasing complexity. So, In the Map30 locomotive (4000HP Diesel Electric Locomotive) the electric brake control unit (EBCU) is a separate part of the locomotive control unit(LCU).

EBCU consists of a digital input card, an analog input card, a digital output card, and a processor card.

processor card acts as the brain of the brake system, and has great features:
1- Automotive grade MCU
2- three isolated CAN port
3- One isolated RS485 port and one isolated RS232 port
4- Memory (SD card and NAND/NOR flash) for logging data
5- RTC along with supercapacitor for holding time even in power-off situations

main responsibilities of EBCU are as follows:
1- Communication with LCU through CAN_BUS
2- Logging sensors' data, control commands, and all events
2- Reading/checking the brake system's sensors
3- Emergency Brake command
4- Brake handling
3- Bail-off algorithm
4- Compressor load/unload algorithm
5- Lubrication algorithm
6- Sanding algorithm
7- Draining algorithm
8- Rupture algorithm
9- Error handling
