Ferry Meadows to Castor on the River Nene

A canoe trip on the River Nene, starting near Ferry Meadows, Peterborough, England. About 3 hours padding up river, against the strong flows after the recent rain, and about 30 minutes back down river! The lunch location was a really nice backwater next to an island. A robin sat nearby and sang quietly to us while we were there. He got within about 3 feet of us at times and we fed him biscuit crumbs. A lovely stretch of the river here, which will be paddled again in the summer for an entirely different scene, and a longer day.
