Monaco at Grand Prix time is hot, stuffy, noisy and overflowing with tourists and unwanted visitors. This is when Burgess and his second wife Liana would jump into the Mercedes (diesel) motorcar and head for their chalet in Savosa, overlooking Lugano.

MADE IN LUGANO: Burgess worked on 'The Kingdom of the Wicked', 'A Clockwork Orange: A Play with Music' and 'Enderby's Dark Lady', among many other projects, in this cool, clean, bright, well-ordered place.
