Welcome to A Far Too Brief History of American Motors, known as AMC!
What I thought would be a short video and a short history of American Motors turned into a multi-week project!
A company I didn't know much about, aside from a few models such as the Eagle, and I became completely enamored with this scrappy underdog fighting against the Big Three by going where they weren't: smaller, innovative, well-built, and efficient cars. Efficient not only in gas (relatively) but also prioritizing passenger space.
I fell in love with the company and the cars - from the handsome Rambler American to the AMX to the Concord - AMC made some good looking and reserved cars.
But several critical missteps along the way left them in dire straights and they fell into the arms of Renault for a savior... and 10 years later to Chrysler.
