This is the life of Stilicho, the bold, half-barbarian Roman general who became the most powerful man in the Western Roman Empire by the 5th century. His life is a violent and tragic drama, besieged by barbarian invasions, traitorous politicians, and brutal archnemeses. The events in this story will fundamentally shift the course of history forever.

As always, there’s only so much we can fit in each video, and a lot of interesting information gets left on the cutting room floor. Ancient Rome-- from the days of Caesar and Augustus-- to the very end, was a complex web of politics, barbarian warfare, and struggles for power.
