Dentists who graduated overseas will have to pass an exam to practise in Singapore. Parliament has passed proposed changes to the Dental Registration Act. The new requirement will take effect from 2029 to give prospective students time to consider where to pursue their degree. The universities will also need to be listed in the schedule to the Dental Registration Act. Dentistry degrees from places like Australia and Hong Kong are currently recognised. Dental graduates from universities that are not on the list will have to seek conditional registration to take the qualifying exam.
