Passing mucus with hard stools mucus it can come out with normal stools with loose stools and with hard stools with loose stools and mucosa. It is more or less what we call as diarrhea dentry that sort of things where there is inflammation of the large intestine usually caused by some infective conditions like biliary dysentry amoebic dysentry or inflammatory diseases like ulcera colitis, crohn's disease or sometimes tuberculosis that sort of where there is inflammation of the large intestine. In those cases it will be lose motion with mucus and with or without blood. The other this one is hard motion with mucus. So hard motion in sense if the motion is patient is constipated recently and only mucus is coming out then we have to think in terms of cancer of the rectum or the colon where the motion is getting stuck and becoming hard but because of the irritation there less amount of mucus and necrosed tissues will be coming out. That's a very dangerous situation. So any hard motion with mucus or blood coming out we should get it examined thoroughly preferably colonoscopy has to be done to exclude cancers. That is how it is.
