BMW LIFETIME OIL? No way! Marketing mumbojumbo from BMW. The term lifetime oil is to make the first owner feel good about their car. The differential and gearbox are service free, they think! Before the time the car needs service the Original owner doesnt own the car anymore, leading the next owner to potentially experience differential and gearbox damage. And Why? Because of a marketing term, BMW even removed the drainplug.

In this video we will change the differential oil. Check out how the first Original Oil looks like after only 20.000 kms and 1.5 years of driving! If you would ask me, for the money the oil service costs it is more than worth changing it regularly. With this video how to you can even do it at your own driveway!

What do you need for this project:

- 1 Liter of Differential oil, we used: Castrol 75W140 Syntrax
- New Oil Fill Plug with BMW number: 33117525064
- Electrical oil suction pump
- Oil Syringe
- Spill container
- Brake cleaner
Optional:
- 12v battery for the suction pump
- Rubber gloves

ON REQUEST HOW TO RESET SERVICEINTERVAL:

- Turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine Press and hold the TRIP knob in the instrument cluster until you see a Service Item on the display.
- Press the TRIP knob briefly to scroll the service that you want to reset, in this case the oil can.
- Press and hold the TRIP knob until RESET? appears on the display,
- Release the knob and then hold it again to confirm the reset.
