Replacing the Polaris P965iQ Motor Block - R0638100

I noticed that my Polaris P965iQ pool cleaner had stopped reversing or turning. The problem persisted for several days and I sought answers via the internet. It might be the motor or drive that is causing the problem.

I did my own investigations and then contacted Polaris / Fluidra asking if the failure was covered under warranty. They said it was not even though it failed at, or very near to, the end of the two year warranty period but they would not consider any kind of repair or compensation.

I asked for diagnostic help and sent photos. They were hard to deal with and evasive initially but eventually they did provide some answers. I needed a complete new motor block as component parts are not available. I bought this motor block from sunplay.com/products/polaris-motor-block-kit-r0548700. They were charging around $100 less than other retailers and had great reviews.

After removing the old motor block I made sure everything was cleaned up and installed the new one. It's not a difficult job but does need a bit of time and care.
