The newly improved unfolding-locking-folding mechanism guarantees one safe, smooth operation as demonstrated in this video:

Starting from a folded position under the table, place left hand at middle of rail. Free it by lifting slightly. Hold it there and at same time, place right hand on knob, twist knob. Push down rail with left hand. Lift it to an ‘up’ position till a ‘click’ is heard. Rail is now locked.

To release from an ‘up’ position, place left hand at middle of rail. Free it by lifting slightly. Hold it there and at same time, place right hand on knob, twist knob. Rail will release. With left hand, guide rail back to under the table till a ‘click’ is heard. Rail intuitively folds to starting position.
