“I Wanna Be Ready” is a favorite Negro Spiritual. It was arranged by Angela Denise Davis and played on an Ohana SK-28 soprano ukulele.

Angela Denise Davis, M.Div., M.S., is a ukulele instructor, workshop facilitator, ordained minister, and public speaker interested in how art, especially music, can enlarge the ground beneath our feet and enrich the ways we move in personal and social spaces.

Like so many adults, Angela took piano lessons for many years as a child and was involved in middle school chorus. She started playing the ukulele after a profound loss of vision 15 years ago, and quickly came to see that the ukulele was life-changing. Her passion to teach music comes out of this awareness. She believes that almost anyone can learn to play the ukulele, and reap a wealth of benefits from music instruction.

She is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University where she earned a B.A. in Art. She also holds a master of divinity from Vanderbilt University Divinity School, and a master of science in rehabilitation counseling from Georgia State University.
