Zarus was the first man, created by the world itself. No deity had a hand in his creation, because no deity could have conceived such a perfect creature. Members of the other races trembled to see him, for they knew that he was their superior in every way. His grace surpassed that of the Elves, his sturdiness astounded the Dwarves, his crafts were the awe of Gnomes and Halflings everywhere.

Zarus is called "The True Human God" and is considered the only god who places Humans before all others. He cares nothing for the other races, only for Humanity, and encourages his followers to prove themselves better than any nonhuman. Unfortunately, he also fosters the belief that Humans deserve to rule the world, treating other races as servants. His priests teach that other races are inferior, in need of Human guidance -- and Human masters. The clerics of Zarus encourage conquest and slavery. The worst sin a Human can commit, according to the Church of Zarus, is to mate with a non-Human and produce a child. This child is a taint on the race and must be removed.

For the World of Greyhawk or Planescape settings for Dungeons and Dragons. (However, due to him being a "forgotten god", he could be applied to almost any setting.)

Before the stars in silence burned,
Before the scrolls of gods were turned,
He rose—the First, the Pure, the Right,
Clad not in mercy, but in might.
Zarus, forged of wrath and flame,
The True God cast without a name.

We are the blood of sacred strain,
The heirs of fire, the rightful chain.
Through pain and steel, our flesh is made—
To claim the world, to never fade.
O Zarus, our forgotten king,
Let death and conquest be our hymn!

They silenced you, our primal guide,
For truths too sharp the gods denied.
That Man is first, and all should bow,
That lesser kin must serve us now.
So now we train, in flesh and soul—
Our creed is strength, our will the goal.

We break our bodies, burn our fear,
Till only human pride is clear.
No elf, no orc, no scaled disgrace
Shall rule above the human race.
Our hands were made for crown and sword—
Our birthright is a world restored.

Let tyrants fall and thrones be razed,
Let holy lies be set ablaze.
The acolytes, with eyes of flame,
Have carved your truth into their frame.
We suffer, bleed, and rise through pain—
To make the world Man's forge again.

Zarus, our god of righteous hate,
We rend the flesh, we storm the gate!
Forgotten fire, no longer tamed—
Through blood and war, your name reclaimed!
Let all who crawl or fly or creep
Fall to Man’s heel—eternal, deep.

Steel our flesh, consume our doubt,
Zarus guides the mortal rout.
We are the fire, the wrath, the flame—
Mankind reborn in Zarus’ name.
