Well well well, what have we here? While the biggest news in the NZ rail circle recently is the arrival of KiwiRail's DM class in the South Island, in the North Island, 2 much older locomotives are the star of the show.

Today (24/10/2024) DBR's 1200 and 1213 began making their way north from Palmerston North after being in storage at Hutt Workshops. These two have definitely seen their fair share of service, with 1213 being renowned on the Hokitika shunt, and 1200 as one of "the twins" (a name it adopted while banking trains from Paekākāriki to Wellington with DBR 1267).

Whatever happens with these two will be definitely interesting, lets see what the future holds!
