In this edition of East Idaho Newsmakers, Nate Eaton talks with the legendary Michael McLean.

McLean has written and produced 30 albums over the decades and is known for his annual Christmas production of The Forgotten Carols. He has also written a Broadway musical, is a motivational speaker and produced hundreds of films and commercials for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Several years ago, McLean’s son, Jeff, told his family he was gay. McLean says that began a “faith crisis” where he began to question everything he believed and had shared with millions around the world.

During their conversation, McLean tells Eaton what happened during that period of time, how Jeff helped him through and provides words of encouragement for others in difficult moments.

They also discuss The Forgotten Carols and what’s next for the performer.
