‪@walkingwithbill‬ takes a walk around this popular village with its famous grave for "Gelert"; Prince Llywelyn's faithful hunting hound which he killed after he mistakenly thought the dog had killed his infant son when he was away. The hound was covered in blood but it was the blood of a wolf that had entered the young infants room. The hound had killed the wolf and saved his masters son. Before he saw the dead wolf the prince had taken his sword and killed Gelert, thinking he was to blame only to find the dead wolf behind the upturned crib and the baby safe underneath. There is truth and myth to this story and one thing that is certain is that the grave was created some 600 years after the event by the new landlord of the Goat Hotel, he built the grave to attract tourists to the village in the late 18th century. However the village name translated is "Gelerts Grave" which was probably the case before Mr David Pritchard became the new landlord of The Goat Hotel.
