A Jackson, Miss. news station recently announced the sudden passing of one of its anchors.
“Our colleague, Celeste Wilson, who recently joined WAPT as our weekend anchor, has passed away from a heart attack,” reads a story posted on the station’s site.
“Though Celeste had only been with us a short time, we were already touched by her professionalism, warmth, and dedication to the work of journalism.”

Wilson, a New Orleans native, obtained a master’s degree in journalism from Arizona State University and soon began her broadcasting career at the CBS affiliate in Monroe, La., according to her bio on the WAPT website.
“With a strong a commitment to faith, family, community, and deep Mississippi ties, Celeste is excited to explore Jackson and share Mississippi’s stories,” her station bio at WAPT read.
She also worked at KARK in Little Rock between 2023 and 2024.
“Team 20 is saddened by this loss, and our prayers are with her colleagues, friends and family members,” the station posted on its site.
