This trek pushed us harder than we expected… and gave us moments we’ll never forget. We joined Alpaca Expeditions to hike one of Peru’s most beautiful and challenging routes... A journey filled with altitude, exhaustion, laughter, new friendships, and some of the most breathtaking views we’ve ever seen.

Day 1: The turquoise waters of Humantay Lake and 2 nights in the glass cabanas as an unexpected twist sent us right back to where we started.
Day 2: A massive 28 km push over the Salkantay Pass, unreal weather, thin air, and one of the toughest climbs we’ve done.
Day 3: A peaceful coffee experience followed by a brutally steep climb to the 2,900m Machu Picchu viewpoint, the pain was real, but the views were unreal.
Day 4: A long descent into Aguas Calientes through cloud forests, waterfalls, and weather that changed nonstop.
Day 5: Machu Picchu, a cloudy morning that slowly opened up into perfect conditions. The ending we didn’t expect, but exactly the one that made the 5 days perfect.

This trek broke us open in the best way physically, mentally and emotionally.
