Being Pretty Is Like…Really Hard 🥲 - The Pretty Privilege Paradox

Pretty privilege is the idea that people who are deemed more conventionally attractive—based on deep routed beauty standards—have an upper hand in the world, given more opportunities, social advantages and in general have an easier life that those who may be deemed average looking.

And this is what’s known as the halo effect.

The most recent study on pretty privilege, took a deeper look into why we as humans, automatically connect beauty with goodness. And it found that conventionally attractive people were perceived to have more moral traits than those deemed un-atractive. And not just moral traits, but human on average tend to automatically believe that more attractive people smarter, more creative, more financially stable, more socially aware and more hygienic than those deemed average.
And this is what’s referred to as the Halo effect. A person who is perceived positively in one area, wether that. Be looks or intelligence, is assumed to have other positive qualities in all other areas as well.

But can you be so attractive that, it works against you?
