We would love to say that the Himalayan doesn't vibrate -- the 350s and the 650s don't -- but we can't actually say that. Here are three things you should know about vibration on the new Himalayan. First, this 452cc engine has a definite buzz right through. It's at its smoothest below 4,500rpm and at its very worst from 5000 to 6000rpm or so. Unfortunately this is also the most likely rev band you'll end up on the highway with so it might be a bigger issue than it should be. It's not an engine that sounds strained at any revs though, which leads you to expect a smoother experience which is missing. Second, this is underlined further by the fact that it's the only aspect of the motorcycle that feels harsh. Versus its rivals, it's a non-issue but in the experience of the motorcycle -- sweet suspension, great handling and wonderful performance, the buzz sticks out at a perpetual, "why couldn't they have solved this!". Third, This is made even worse when you realise that the most modern, most recent of the Royal Enfield engines is the one showing the least refinement. It's a proper facepalm moment. Again, we don't think the buzz is so bad that it is a reason not to buy one, but watch out for it during the test ride and see if you're okay with it -- we think most of you will be annoyed by it, but not enough to put off a purchase.
