AT least five people are dead and eight more injured after a church shooting on Sunday morning where a gunman drove through the front doors of the building, opened fire, and set the place alight.

Iraq veteran Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, was named as the suspect who was shot dead by police just minutes after opening fire as his home just 15 minutes away from the church was searched for evidence using bomb squad robots.
