In this video, I hit the beach to sight cast for corbina, one of the most challenging and rewarding fish to target in the surf. Corbina are notorious for being picky eaters and skittish in shallow water, and this trip proves it. I had plenty of close calls, follows, and missed opportunities, finally leading to a somewhat successful hook-up.

• Okuma SST (8’6″ MA)
• Reel: Penn Battle II or III 4000 series
• Mainline: 15-pound monofilament
Carolina Rig:
• Leader Line: 15-pound fluorocarbon
• Swivels: 15-19mm barrel swivels
• Hooks: size #2 or #4 owner mosquito hooks
• Weights: 1-oz egg weight
• Beads: 8mm fishing beads

While I was chasing corbina, I hooked into a nice mystery fish that put up a solid fight right in the shallows.
