Formation of Freezer Unit Opening and Drainage Trenches Within Controlled Environment Food Processing Facility.

We were tasked with forming an opening within an existing ground-bearing floor slab to accommodate a new freezer unit and associated drainage trenches.

The works took place within a controlled environment food processing facility, requiring careful planning and execution to maintain high standards of cleanliness and minimise disruption to ongoing operations.

The scope of work involved breaking out the existing concrete slab and removing the soft substrate below to a depth of 500mm. All spoil was carefully transported to an external location for disposal.

All activities were carried out using 3-phase powered machinery to ensure efficiency and precision within the restricted working environment. The slab was cut using a Tyrolite FSE1022 floor saw, and the concrete was broken out with a Husqvarna DXR145 remote-controlled demolition robot. The underlying soft substrate was excavated using a Takeuchi TB216 Hybrid Mini Excavator, and all spoil was removed from site using Twinca ES800 High Tip Dumpers.

The works were programmed and completed within a tight timeframe to allow for subsequent installation activities, deep cleaning, and recommissioning of the facility prior to the resumption of full production operations.
