‘The Patrol System’ was made for The Scout Association of Australia, Victorian Branch as a training video and released in 2001.

The video was part of a broader series of videos, like printed publications, to assist in the training of Scouts. The acted video depicts a Scout Troop, and how it improves the operation of the Troop Council (the management team of youth who run the Troop). The material depicted is clearly exaggerated for training impact, but illustrates the concepts in a way aimed at the Scouts themselves.

This video is also an example of the acting skills within the Scout Movement, sourced from various Scout stage shows and elsewhere, which continues to be put to use in preparing promotional and training material for the Movement. This is also another example of Victorian Scouting preparing material for use Australia-wide.

This video was considered sufficiently successful that a revised version featuring the newer Scout uniform but largely the same script, was re-made nearly a decade later, and had continued to be used in training for leaders.

This is just a sample of the material which the volunteers at Scout Heritage Victoria are working to preserve for the Victorian community and especially the Scouts of the past, present and future.
