This morning, I woke up early to harvest corn. This year’s corn crop truly gave me a sense of relief — the cobs were full, golden, and just looking at them made me feel warm inside. At the very least, Bon and I now have something to eat, something to help us get through the rainy days ahead.

When I returned home, Bon had just woken up. We had breakfast together. I always thought he was still too little, still just a playful child… but today, he made my heart swell with emotion.

Without me saying a word, Bon quietly went to wash the dishes after breakfast. It was a small gesture, but it softened my heart completely. In this hard and uncertain life, having a child who understands and stands beside his mother — that is the most precious gift of all.

After taking Bon to school, I stopped by Auntie Khu’s house — our kind neighbor — to check in on her and also ask for some advice. My chickens have been dying of illness these past few days, and I was truly worried, unsure how to handle it.

Then, Auntie Khu said something that startled me:

“Someone came to your house this morning…”

I stood still.
For some reason… a strange feeling stirred in my chest.
An uneasiness I couldn’t explain.
