THE HISTORY OF AYUTTHAYA KINGDOM AND THE WAT YAI CHAI MONGKHON THAILAND | BOOHXPLORE

This is the first temple we will visit today here in Ayutthaya City the Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon and the Wat word stands for Temple. This temple is a Buddhist temple and was constructed by King U-Thong in 1357 A.D. this was also called The Wat Pakaew or the Great Monastary of Auspicious Victory and then Phra Wanratana who ordained to accommodate to the monks of Wat Pa Kaew suggested to King Naresuan the Great to build a large Chedi or Pagoda in 1592 A.D. There are three buildings in the area the first building to visit is the Main Chedi with 62 meters high and it is surrounded by different kinds of Buddha inside. The second building is The Ordination Hall or The Ubosot where we can also see a one big Buddha sitting in the center and before we enter the hall area make sure to remove our shoes before we enter and the last one is the Vihara of the Reclining Buddha

This place is the southeastern area of Ayutthaya and its easily to navigate cuz this can be found in the eastern side of the road. People here are friendly. There are also an ancient canals inside in the east and west side of the temple.
