US President Donald Trump called America's trade ties with India a "one-sided disaster," further stating that New Delhi has offered to reduce tariffs to "almost nothing" but it is "getting late"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping shared a warm hug and a car ride—an unmistakable show of camaraderie as the U.S. ramped up pressure over India’s continued trade ties with Moscow. The summit came just as Washington imposed sweeping 50% tariffs on Indian imports, citing India’s role in refining and reselling discounted Russian oil.

Doubling down on this criticism, former Trump adviser Peter Navarro accused India of acting as a “laundromat for the Kremlin.” In a controversial remark, he added: “You got Brahmins profiteering at the expense of the Indian people. We need that to stop.”

Amid the diplomatic pageantry, PM Modi raised a serious concern with Xi: cross-border terrorism. Calling it a shared threat, he urged Beijing to work jointly with India to counter it. China, in turn, offered assurances of cooperation.

Images and videos from the summit told their own story. One viral clip showed Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif watching from the sidelines, visibly grim, as Modi engaged in an animated, informal conversation—just moments before the plenary session.
