Best Places to Live in Southwest England - Sherborne

With a population of around 10,000 Sherborne is a just right size town in the county of Dorset, England. It was featured as the number one pick on the Times 2024 Best Places to Live in the Southwest edition.

It's known for historic Sherborne Abbey which was founded by St Aldhelm in AD 705 and not one but two castles.
Sherborne was settled during Roman times and features many examples of historic architecture from throughout the ages.
It's also well known for its boys and girls boarding schools dating to the 1800’s whose famous students include Jeremy Irons, Chris Martin of Coldplay and John Le Carre author.
