Here we go

I recently had a nightmare experience flying Air India Business Class on their 787 Dreamliner from Delhi to Sydney – a 13-hour journey I will never forget for all the wrong reasons! Looks like my bad luck continued with Air India's 787 Dreamliner

Here’s what happened:

👉 At Check-In:
I was told my Business Class seat was broken, and my options were either:
1️⃣ Fly Economy Class, despite paying ₹1.5 Lakh+ for a Business Class ticket, or
2️⃣ Wait 48 hours for another flight with a "fixed" seat.

😡 Feeling trapped, I refused Economy Class (why would I downgrade after getting a Business class ticket?) and was made to wait until everyone boarded. Finally, they handed me a declaration form to sign, asking me to agree that I was "happy" to sit on the broken seat "at my own will" and that I wouldn’t get a refund.

👉 The Flight Experience:

My seat didn’t recline for the entire 13-hour journey. Imagine sitting upright for that long on a premium flight!
I noticed other Business Class passengers being shuffled around the cabin because their seats were also not the best in shape.
The stress at Delhi Airport made me unwell, and I developed a mild fever during the flight. Luckily, the crew was fantastic – they noticed I wasn’t feeling well and kindly gave me Panadol to help.
But here’s the issue: the crew wasn’t even aware of the broken seats before we took off. How can Air India operate a premium cabin in such terrible condition?

👉 Delhi Airport Staff:
Their attitude was completely unprofessional. While I was visibly stressed and waiting for answers, they told me to call Air India Customer Service for a refund. I knew that chasing refunds in India is next to impossible, so I decided to stick to the broken seat.

💔 Overall Experience:

Paid for a premium Business Class seat that didn’t work.
Mental stress and discomfort for 13 hours.
Zero care from Delhi Airport staff.
Amazing crew onboard, but the cabin conditions were unacceptable.
I spoke to other passengers, and they faced similar issues. It’s shocking that Air India is still operating these broken Business Class seats on long-haul flights.

My experience raises serious questions about Air India’s maintenance standards and customer care. Premium seats should deliver premium comfort – not frustration and pain!

✈️ Will I fly Air India 787 Dreamliner again?
Absolutely NOT. This experience has made me lose trust in Air India’s Dreamliner Business Class product. But, I am very keen to fly their newly refurbished A320 neo and A350.
