Korg M1REX - The Expanded ROM Sounds

Описание к видео Korg M1REX - The Expanded ROM Sounds

The M1 was the top-selling digital synthesizer of the late 1980s and early 1990s. I had one, of course - it became indispensable. I eventually sold it when I bought a Trinity, but missed a lot of its feels and sounds, and went out and bought the M1REX a few years ago. For me, as brilliant as the M1 was, it lacked a few really mission-critical sounds - most noticeably some decent Hammond organ and Fender Rhodes sounds. The 4MB sample ROM expansion really goes a long way towards addressing this. The Hammonds are there (05:07, 17:38, amongst others), together with the electric pianos (08:28, 15:20, 20:12), and there are also a load of other great sounds and textures - the following are some of my favourites:

02:18 Wavesweep2
02:44 Gamelan
03:23 Wavesweep3
04:23 Pot Covers (I remember this on the T1)
06:28 Choriana
07:03 Fantasy
11:37 Willow
12:03 The Deep
12:28 Full Pipe (even better than the original M1 organs!)
12:53 Big Band (velocity-sensitive brass with autopanning)
13:20 Raga Dance
13:41 Steam Bells
16:20 Wave Picks
17:25 Symphony
18:13 Kryptonite
19:28 Air Voices
21:54 AirHorns

All sounds were played live, directly to a Roland R-05 digital recorder with no additional processing or effects. I have edited the original 90-minute noodling down to a more listenable 20-something minutes.
