My Ebike Adventure In Tuscany.

Welcome to the Bicycle Diaries and Welcome to Italy!

Day two of my ebike tour of Tuscany. Today is going to be tough. 73kms and climbing around 1200 metres. Along the way we'll be facing some major climbs and some amazing long descent and doing them all on the Lapierre electric road bike.

Starting in San Quirico d'Orcia and doing a look back to San Quirico d'Orcia, we'll also be stopping to visit a Roman spa and a quirky little cycling museum at a Brunello vineyard.

Because todays ride will be tough, one of my priorities will be to conserve the batter for the motor. The last thing I need is to run out of power and have to face a long climb without assistance.

This tour will take me six days and will cover around 400 kms of cycling and climb over 8000 metres through the Tuscan countryside.

This ride is day one and I will be cycling from Cortona to San Quirico d'Orcia, a distance of around 60 kms and climbing 800 metres.

Having never ridden an electric bike before I have no idea what to expect. Being a reasonably fit cyclist I should be very interesting and, hopefully, a lot of fun.
