Fender Pro Jr IV Baffle and Speaker Comparison - Jensen P10R & Warehouse G10C

Описание к видео Fender Pro Jr IV Baffle and Speaker Comparison - Jensen P10R & Warehouse G10C

A much more thorough experiment than before, in line with my pickup comparisons.

This video covers two independent changes that can be made to the Fender Pro Jr IV. I compare the standard chipboard baffle to a thinner plywood one, and the original Jensen alnico speaker to a Warehouse ceramic speaker of the same size, within the amp cabinet itself.

I have made every effort to ensure consistency - all guitar parts were recorded via DI before the session, and re-amped in a single session. Microphones were positioned at the start of the session and the position of the amp marked out so that the baffle and speaker changes could be made.

The new baffle is 11mm thinner than the old one, and this was considered when repositioning the amp for recording, in order to ensure that the distance between mics and speaker cone was preserved.

Shure SM57 and AKG C214 on the cone; Rode NT5 stereo room mics.

The tone control was set halfway on the amp for all sounds, so there is scope to brighten or darken the sounds.

There are some clicks and pops which seem to be created in my DI/re-amping process, but these shouldn't interfere with the comparison.
