Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, revolutionary reforms have been approved in the Punjab Forest Department. The Provincial Cabinet of Punjab has approved historic amendments to the Forest Act 1927, marking a major step toward modernizing forest governance.

🔹 A new post of Director General Forests, Punjab has been established
🔹 Amendments made to the Financial Power Rules 2016 to ensure financial transparency
🔹 Forest crimes are declared organized crimes, with a proposed punishment of up to 10 years imprisonment
🔹 Establishment of Forest Protection Centers in every district, similar to police stations
🔹 Formation of a Forest Protection Force with legal powers of FIR registration, arrest, and investigation
🔹 Appointment of Special Prosecutors under the new amendments
🔹 Redesignation of Officers as per modern requirements:
• DFO → Deputy Conservator of Forests
• SDFO → Assistant Conservator of Forests
• Range Officer → Forest Protection Officer
• Forest Guard → Forest Ranger

These landmark reforms are a significant step toward forest conservation, environmental protection and a greener Punjab.
